He appeared in narrated pop-ups during My Player, critiquing your performance and offering tips and encouragement that often referenced the trials and tribulations faced by real NBA players. His advice and criticisms were somewhat generic, though. After a while they became repetitive, and even remained unchanged from one NBA 2K game to the next. His speeches about not quitting upon attempting to exit My Player, while relating tales of NBA players who never stopped trying to improve their game, were kind of like the quit messages in the original Doom games.
There might have been a certain charm to them at first, but after a while, they became something to skip as soon as possible. In addition to being able to disable the pop-ups and only hear his dialogue, there was also an option to switch him off entirely.
I imagine that a lot of people ended up doing just that. As far as the person behind the 2K Insider avatar was concerned, they had a significantly more important role. They did have some interaction with the community, as far as sharing details about the latest roster update, or commentary on current events in the NBA.
For whatever reason, Visual Concepts decided to keep their identity a secret. Post a Comment. I want to write good things about these roster updates. I really do. I know for a fact that if I performed my job this poorly, I would lose it within a week, not keep it for 5 years. There are others out there who feel the same way, and those people will probably jump to EA Sports once they finally have a working title again. Real talk. Forget about the lack of player edits though two in ten days is plenty bad , 2K is no longer even keeping up with basic transactions.
There are FIVE players on wrong teams and they all have been there for weeks. We are still missing a coach who was hired nearly one month ago. We have clear department biases as Brooklyn's Deron Willams misses ONE GAME, is slated to miss one additional game sitting out until after the All-Star break , and has been given a major injury that cannot be played through.
In the previous update we had Chris Paul still capable of being used through his injury, while in this update the Spurs Tim Duncan 4 straight missed games and Manu Ginobili 5 sraight missed games have no injuries, despite the fact that they are likewise probable to be held out until after the All-Star break.
As far as skills, he is a simulation style gamer that runs set plays, and brings a solid blend of real basketball knowledge and an understanding of how that should be translated in a video game. If you're looking to follow one of the pioneers and most successful YouTube gamers, subscribe to Chris Smoove—unless of course you're one of the , people that already have. He was one of the most active gamers after the 2K Team Up, and shared some very cool information from his time at 2K Sports headquarters.
If you want to see one of the best My Career players, this is where you should look. I'm not going to say he's the best, because there are quite a few great gamers on YouTube, but he definitely brings the skills. There is also the requisite trash talk to nobody in particular, but us YouTubers have to run our mouths—it's part of the entertainment. Check him out breaking the single game record for assists with the Portland Trail Blazers:.
Every YouTuber has their own personality and persona. Something about the way he goes in on his computer opponents makes you think he talks a little bit of trash on the real court as well. He doesn't post as often as some of the other 2K YouTubers, but it gives you a little to look forward to.
I like innovative videos, and this one is a clear example of that. It is only long, but it is pretty funny. Don't think it's all about jokes.
Spade is nice on the sticks, and he's popularized the term Rainmaker for his My Player's ability to drain the deep ball. His current My Career player is some sort of offspring from Brian Scalabrine.
